2013: Story Board

Hans Christian Andersen's "The Ugly Duckling"
The images were made by first sketching the characters and then photographing them and importing them into photoshop. I then traced them with the pen tool and digitally coloured them.

2013: The Barranquilla Carnival

I sketched the shapes first then photographed them to be traced in Photoshop with the pen tool.

La Marimonda are featured in the final poster which traditional costumes to the Barranquilla Carnival. The three colours used are found on the Columbian flag.

2013: Paul Klee - A Line Is A Dot That Went For A Walk

This image started as a sketch in a lined notebook drawn with pen and gray lead. After photographing it with my iPhone and opening it in Photoshop, the image was inverted, contrast, hue and saturation were edited and the perspective was edited to make it square as the photograph was taken on an angle. "Paul Klee" was written in the bottom-right corner with a font downloaded from the internet.

2013: Task A - That's Rubbish

What's pictured are plastic sticks full of candy powder. These colourful candy sticks have been sitting in my kitchen for a while, not getting eaten; they had become rubbish. Also, they're a junkfood which fits the theme of "That's Rubbish".
I liked how colourful they were and the resulting letterform is quite playful because of the colourfulness
of the sticks. I taped out a square out on my coffee table so that I could create the same sized letter for each picture and easily frame the photograph with my camera. Without access to a good camera, I opted for my iPhone's built in camera which did the job reasonably well and allowed for easy importing into photoshop. The wooden background of the letters gave the final piece a tactile feel and made it more real and also created a good contrast in colours to allow the colour of the sticks to stand out from the table.

2013: Week Two - Retro Design

2013: Week 2 - Gradient Tool

I created elliptical selections with the Elliptical Marquee Tool and then created gradients within them. I then rendered clouds in the background and made it appear like spheres were falling in the sky. I used Bevel & Emboss to create a shadow for the balls and make them appear more spherical rather than 2-dimensional and also added a slight grainy texture to the balls to make them not looked as "shopped" as they are.

2013: Week Two - Custom Brush

(Image found at: http://www.fonearena.com/blog/52625/apple-reveals-q3-2012-earnings-net-profit-of-8-8-billion-35-billion-in-revenues.html/apple-logo-4:)
I used a well-known logo and selected it and then created the custom brush and layered a painting using a low opacity.
