Trash

What is trash? Trash has many meanings so to help me decide on my own meaning, I visited Dictionary.com and defined it:


Trash noun

1. anything worthless, useless, or discarded; rubbish.
2. foolish or pointless ideas, talk, or writing; nonsense.
3. a worthless or disreputable person.
4. such persons collectively.
5. literary or artistic material of poor or inferior quality.

Definition 5 has me thinking of how people write these days on social networking websites such as Facebook, or messenger programs. DeY r1te lYk Dey Hav nEva reD a b00k b4 oR suMfing and it looks like trash!! So, I've decided to make a font which uses trash-talk to make the letter-form.

I began by using Photoshop to write a page full of illiterate writing. After this, I created a new layer and created the alphabet. I made the under-layer full of text show through visible where the over-layer had the alphabet to create the effect of the letters being inside the letters.
I tried going into Blending Options and adding an outer Stroke but I felt this made it look a little tacky, though, without anything tracing the border it was a little difficult to realise what the letters were.
I then applied an Emboss effect which looked nicer and revealed the edges of the letters.


The final came out looking nice and simple. (Click to see bigger size:)
