The design of these types of posters is simple and use very little letterform to convey a quick message and get the simple point across! The bold red border which outlines this poster draws attention to the design. At the top of the poster's hierarchy would be the "YOU" in bigger font and red. The image of the old-man pointing at you also emphasises the attention grabbing and makes it as if the poster is speaking directly to you.
My concept for the poster will be one about saving the environment and taking the train instead. Something which came to mind is how you can text on the train but you can't text while driving so this could be used to create my idea! The poster will save something like "SAVE THE ENVIRONMENT, TEXT ON THE TRAIN", and will feature an image of a man driving his car texting and about to hit wildlife, perhaps a kangaroo.
I imagine the poster to look something like this...
This quick sketch shows an initial layout and the scale, hierarchy, typography and colour need to be assessed.

To draw a kangaroo I needed to find visual references, so I started at google images, typed 'kangaroo' and then changed my search filter to show clipart images only.
I began to do some layout thumbnail sketches.
Dividing the page into quarters worked better than thirds for this design as it better allowed both the car and kangaroo to fit better and creates a symmetry. The design will primarily use line to create its form. It will be cartoon or stamp-like. The colour will be cartoony and only a few will be used with mostly no texture.
I drew the final in fineliner and then scanned the image into Photoshop. I left the lopsidedness of the scan in the final as it gave a sketchy, cartoony feel. After colouring it in with Photoshop, I added the light beam and letterform.
